I can't believe it has been a month since I have blogged. I am hoping that when school starts I will actually have time to sit down and keep everyone a little more updated on our life in Turkey.
For those of you that may not have heard, Bella and Sophie will be spending some extra time with us in Turkey. They will be staying until December and will go to school here for the semester. The plan is that they will then go back to Arizona and finish the school year there. We are still working out the here and back details, but that will be planned when things get a little closer.
They have had a busy summer. Their good friends the Knapps left about 3 weeks ago, so we were all sad to see them go. Last week they had vacation bible school. They had a blast and met some new friends along the way. They started dance the first week in August as well. Sophie takes ballet on Monday nights and Bella is taking jazz/rock on Wednesday nights. It is a good practice for us juggling work and four kids. It will be even crazier when school starts. We are ready for that to happen. The first day is August 31st and they are pumped to meet new friends and new teachers.
Nick finished his MIS degree in June and submitted his package for Officer Training School (OTS) in July. The board meets this month and results come out the end of September. Hopefully we will have good news then! Keep your fingers crossed. Work is going good for him. He still likes his job and even though a lot of the people that were here when we got here have left, the new one's are nice too. He is supposed to be leaving on a few trips coming up in September (maybe late August) so that will be a challenge for me.
Work for me has been good. I am getting attached to some of my families and like the teaching part. The Health and Wellness Center (HAWC) asked if I would be interested in teaching a nutrition part to their pregnancy fitness class, so I am doing that once a month. I've taught that material once and used an old power point from my archives that I revamped. Let's just say that I was putting myself to sleep and I will be redoing it before the next class. I had a mom tell me today that my office was a little dark and depressing, so I think I may be painting it soon another brighter more child friendly color instead of the two-tone brown it is now. It might have to wait until school starts though...
The twins are great. The love school and they are excited to go most days. They are talking so well and it's funny to have conversations with them. They are mostly potty trained with a few poopy accidents once in awhile. They wear pull-ups at night, but they mostly wake up dry. I thought that we would be saving so much money when they were out of diapers, but I think that all of them are growing right now and they eat all the time. Sophie has grown out of some of the clothes that we got her at the beginning of the summer. It's a little depressing that our babies are getting so big.
Mom and Dad are coming in November and Jackie, Lauren, and Grandpa Gene will be coming in December. We are excited to have visitors and can't wait to have a little taste of home in Turkey.
Our corn is huge right now!! It is far over the fence and at least 11 feet tall.
The Turks are fixing the water and sewage pipes in our housing area, so our yard (back and front) were torn up for a good 3 weeks. It is all put back together now, but the grass is just starting to grow in the back yard, so lots of mud.
The weather has been tolerable lately. It has stayed between 95-105 most days. The humidity is down, so I can handle the heat.
That is about it for now. We miss you all and love you!!
