A Late Easter Post
We had a great Easter (even though it was two weeks ago and I am just now writing about it.) We actually got to sleep in that morning until 7:15 when the girls woke us up. I'm sure that next year it will be a different story when they understand that the Easter bunny brings them presents and candy. We talked to them the night before and told them that the Easter bunny was coming the next day and that while they were sleeping he would come into our house, take the eggs out of the fridge, and hide them. They were a little unsure about this. I could see the wheels turning in Gabi's head thinking that this bunny was going to come into our house while she was sleeping. (After that I was just hoping that she would sleep at all that night...but she did.)
The Easter bunny came that night and hide the plastic eggs outside hoping that they wouldn't be covered in snails by the next morning. (We have A LOT of snails in our backyard.) Luckily they weren't. They found their baskets on the dining room table and their Dora slip-n-slide.
They were very excited. I think they were most excited with the coloring books and stickers.
(On a side note, we didn't have any grass for the baskets. Our lovely BX didn't have any either...not sure if they ever got any. So, Nick came up with the idea to use shred from our paper shredder. Good idea, Nick!! It worked like a charm.) After the excitement of the baskets, Gabi was looking out the dining room window into the backyard and her face lit up. "Eggs!!" she said. Chloe rushed to the window and they were both very excited. The practice that they had had the day before was enough that they knew what was going on and they were ready to find those eggs, or weggs as Chloe calls them.
While Daddy put coats on, Mommy hid the hard boiled eggs. They went out to start and Chloe was off. Poor Gabi was more interested in opening the eggs to see what was inside, that she spilled the second one. She was trying to eat them off he ground and we were trying to stop her. Meanwhile the tornado was tearing through the yard finding her weggs. I told Gabi to hurry up because Chloe was beating her. We slowed Chloe down as best we could. As Gabi moved throughout the yard, she would see an egg and go up to it and point to it and get down to it's level and look at it. She was not interested in the quantity...it was all quality for her.
In the end, I only got a few pictures. Out of 28 eggs, Chloe ended with 18 and Gabi with 10. Afterwards, we sat on the living room floor and Mommy opened the eggs and dumped the jellybeans into one bowl and we shared with everyone. (Especially Daddy because those are his favorites!!)
