I have to apoligize...it has been over three weeks since I have posted. We have been busy trying to power through getting our house together. It is going well. We have almost everything on the walls. The twins room is done. We do have a few things that need to be moved around and we need to find a place to store some other things. Creativity has to set in coming from a big house into a little house with the stuff for six people. We have turned our coat closet into a pantry and put a left over dresser in the laundry room to put miscellaneous things in. It is working out.
Nick is on one of many trips that he will go on throughout the year. He is supposed to make a trip to the other OSI detachments in Turkey once each quarter. He was in Izmir (on the west coast of Turkey) last week from Wednesday to Saturday, and then he flew to Ankara (the capital in the middle of Turkey) on Saturday and will be home this coming Saturday. The twins and I are doing good since he has been gone. I haven't killed them yet and they haven't tied me to a chair, so we're good. :-)
Our friends from Offutt that are also being stationed here got here a couple of weeks ago and they have been a big help giving me some adult time. They have two kids, Darius is 7 and Sydney will be two in May. The girls love to play with their 'friends' and Darius is a big help keeping all the girls entertained. They just got their house this week and it is great for them to be out of the hotel. We may be going on trips together in the future and we are looking forward to that.
We have decided against the nanny. Despite the good reviews on her, we heard some other things from the OSI family that she cleans for. Nothing horrible like stealing, but she was wearing their 9 year-old's shoes around the house, she wanted to wash her hair in their sink so she could meet friends after work, she showed up on days that she wasn't working to ask for rides, and some other things that just seemed odd to us. We decided that we weren't sure if we trusted her enough to be alone with the twins (who are too young to tell us if something is going on) all day. There were spots open in the Child Development Center (CDC) on base becasue they opened a new two year old room, and we decided that that would be our best bet. They need to be around other kids and away from mommy before they start preschool next year. Nick and I both decided that this would be best for them despite the huge difference in cost. Nick also thought that it would be good for me to have some time at home to get cleaning, grocery shopping, and to do something I want to do without them here. The daycare is full time only, so on Monday and Friday, they will go while I am home. We don't have to take them those days, but since we are paying for it, they might as well play with their friends. I went last week and met their 'teacher'. She is young and has 7 years experience with the CDC and the base preschool program. She is very energetic and has lots of activities for the kids. We''ll see how it goes. If the CDC doesn't work out, I will meet people at work (some of which I know are leaving soon and have had the same nanny since they got here and love them) and I could get a recommendation for them.
That is about it for now...hopefully next time I blog I will have something more exciting to share. :-) We hope that you are all doing well and we miss you!!
