We got our stuff!! Finally!!!! Despite the fact that our house is trashed right now, it is nice to sit on our comfy couch, sleep in our bed, and the twins are happy to play with their toys (and Bella and Sophie's toys). We are slowly but surely getting through the boxes and trying to find a place for everything. Coming from a four bedroom, two bathroom house with a basement, we have a lot of stuff to cram into our two bedroom, one bathroom house with limited storage. It is going better than I expected, but we may still end up putting some things in storage. (They have some storage units on base and they are pretty cheap!) We have a small storage under the car port, but right now it is full with Bella and Sophie's beds and whatever else Nick stuck in there. We have a few boxes we have started putting things in that we want to keep but don't have a place. The girls, however, are having a blast playing with the Easter eggs and buckets, and whatever else they can drag out of the boxes. :-) (Just a couple of pictures of our mess...)
We also got our van. On Wednesday, Nick told me that he had some classified work things to do off base with Chuck, one of our friends and one of the agents. I don't ask questions on these matters, so off he went after lunch. He said that because of the move and unpacking, he would be home early to help me out. At about 3 o'clock, he called and said "Where are you?" I told him, "I'm at home where you called me. Where did you think I was?" He said "No, where are you in the house?" I was in the kitchen, so he told me to look out the window. I was utterly confused, but looked out the window. Sure enough, in pulls Nick in our beautiful, silver minivan (ha, ha). I was so excited. It has been awhile since I've driven (because I couldn't drive the OSI car) so that afternoon, I got to go to the grocery store...alone. Oh, the freedom. (It's the little things in life.)
Yesterday, (Sunday) we had our first power outage. Apparently, they happen frequently. This one was scheduled (not sure why), so we had some fair warning. It lasted from 8 am-4pm. UGH!! It wouldn't have been so bad, but it was so crappy outside that we were forced to stay in. It rained and was cold and windy all day. It wasn't all bad. We got a couple of things done unpacking, but we were all so tired and cranky that Nick and I joined the girls for a nap at nap time. We are scheduled for another one next Sunday and hopefully the weather will be a little nicer, or maybe we will plan better and go off base to enjoy our first Turkish driving experience. :-)
